Elizabeth "Betty" Taylor passed away on Tuesday, December 20 at Independence Court of Quakertown at age 98. She was the wife of the late Robert Taylor.

Born in Allentown, she grew up in Trumbauersville and graduated from Quakertown High School in 1942.

Betty had a deep faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, having trusted in Him as her Savior. As a result of that faith, believing that Christ received the punishment for her sin when He suffered and died on the cross, she knew that when she left her earthly body that she would be in the presence of her Savior. We rejoice knowing that she is seeing Him face to face and experiencing joy unspeakable. Betty found great comfort and blessing in reading the Bible and would have a devotional time daily. She loved gathering with God's people to worship and fellowship and for much of her adult life she also attended various Bible studies. One of her greatest joys was singing the old hymns; with her favorite being, "Ivory Palaces". Two verses in the Bible clearly state what she believed. " For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17.

Betty dearly loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings. Seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her such joy and caused her face to light up. Her husband, Robert, was active in the American Legion, which meant that she would get "volunteered" to help out at the annual Egg Hunt, Carnival and other Legion sponsored events. She served her family and community well. At age 50, she surprised everyone by getting her driver's license. Her neighbor and good friend, Marie, taught her how to drive and took her to the test. No one saw that coming. But the day would come when her husband could no longer drive and how thankful her family was that she could.

When people remark about Betty, they will often speak of her beautiful smile, contagious laughter and her sense of humor. She will be missed.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Alice Ortt, brother Clair Ortt, and husband Robert Taylor. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Smoll, brother, Eugene Ortt, sister, Diane (Jerry) Landis, daughter, Karen (Paul) Kuehne, son, Wayne (Marcia) Taylor, grandchildren: Tracy (Allen) Mickle, Alicia (Daniel) Bohlman, Shaina (Timothy) Sullivan, Chelsea (Joel) Repic, and Tiffany (Ben) Palacz. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: James, Caroline, Nathaniel, Christina, William and Patrick Mickle; Hosanna, Lilian, Samuel, and Micah Bohlman; Juliet, Andrew, Violette, Edmund and Evelyn Sullivan; Levi, Jade and Isla Repic; Grace, Aliyah, and Jude Palacz; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 29, at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown where the family will greet guests from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at 10 a.m., Friday, December 30 in Doylestown Cemetery, 215 East Court Street, Doylestown.
